Make Differences

Humans are held liable for everything that happens in this world. Calamities that destroy treasures, climate change due to natural and human activities and even marvels in our governance.
December 2011, “Bagyong Sendong” destroyed billions of properties along Visayas and Mindanao. This is only a part of nature’s revenge to human activities like burning fossil fuels- main reason of climate change, kaingin and illegal logging. These cause landslides, mudslides and flashflood because there are few trees to hold and support the soil. Putting down a single tree can kill hundreds of lives and burning fossil fuels poisons the air that we breathe- simple things that slowly killing us.
God showed us the result of our irresponsibleness, may our eyes be opened through these disasters that testing us. Don’t let any disaster to kill thousands of lives again before we do something. It’s better if we start today, but still we must always ready. Youth and adults can do big things for a change.
We can make differences by doing eco-friendly things such as planting trees and biking. Do things that are for everyone’s good not only for self’s happiness and satisfaction. Be wise by doing wise.

Essence of Christmas

“Don’t be afraid; I am here to give you good news, great great joy for all the people. Today a savior has been born to you in David’s town; he is the Messiah and the Lord. Let this be a sign to you: you will find a baby wrapped in swaddling clothes and lying in a manger.”- Luke 2:10-12
Christmas is probably the most awaited season of every Filipinos poor and rich alike. It is a joyous holiday, marked by family gatherings, colorful and bright decorations, traditional songs, and the exchange of gifts.
“Pagmamahalan and Pagbibigayan” is what Christmas really means to us. Nothing is happier than celebrating this season with the one you love. December 16, 2011 is the most unforgettable moment of my high school life. At exactly 4:00 in the afternoon, we had our Christmas program in our fatigue uniform. This is the only time that we can have this program because it is the last time that we are complete before Christmas. We spent two hours dancing, playing and eating. While giving our gifts we hug each one of us while saying Merry Christmas. Tears were rolling down our cheeks because of joy and sadness inside our hearts that there are only less than 4 months for us to spend together.
Two hours is not enough to express our feelings during that time. Love is in the air. This is the last Christmas program that we had during our high school life- the shortest yet the most meaningful. We didn’t have luxurious decorations and dresses but we did enjoy it and spent it with all our hearts as one.
We are soon to graduate, two hours may not be enough to say our goodbyes but this two hours gave a meaning to IV- Maxwell’s heart.

Climate Change

Climates have changed throughout Earth’s history. Those changes have had major impacts on nature and people as well.
Through greenhouse effect, carbon dioxide, methane, and water vapor trap part of the heat generated by incoming sunlight and prevent that heat from radiating back into outer space. This makes Earth warmth for the sake of living things.
Thus, climate is influenced by the amount of certain gases in the atmosphere which are produced due to human and natural activities.
Scientists have gathered evidences indicating that temperatures are gradually rising around the world. Many scientists believe that this trend known as global warming, maybe caused by  the burning of fossil fuels in homes, factories, and automobiles. These fuels release carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases when burned. Over the past 200 years or so, the release of these gases may have been so great that they have enhanced earth’s natural greenhouse effect. These cause shifts in rainfall and vegetation growth that can turn grasslands into desserts. If only we plant trees to change those trees that were put down, those trees will soon grow while capturing carbon dioxide and form it into oxygen for us to breathe.
We can still do something like planting trees to lessen carbon dioxide, using non-fuel vehicles and lessen burning of fossil fuels. Simple yet very useful tools to help save Mother Earth.
Save Mother Earth today, Live better tomorrow.

Reflection

Through ICT this second grading, I’ve learnt knew things for my future needs like the usage of different font attributes and posting my insights about those different topics given by Mrs. Vera Cruz.
Sharing my thoughts to others is such a wonderful thing I can do for my voice to be heard all through out the world. The topic about Chemergy- I had known that Chemistry is such a useful field of science in our society. That our teachers deserve to be crown as heroes and our parents as the heroes who can protect us until their last breath. That through English Proficiency we can promote Digital Literacy perfectly in the whole wide world.
But problems such as hectic schedules, limited time and slow internet connection are hindrance to finish and post something needed on time. Its just that we must learn to manage our time and find time to go to computer shops just to be able to finish tasks.
Moving on, I will do my job better than this grading period and expect for a higher grade next time. J

Mutation

They’ve said the only thing permanent here in this world is CHANGE.
People change due to experience, lessons, influence, problems, love or just because they want to. It may be in a positive or negative aspect but what we must do and must know is the good thing.
Time change everything – living and non-living things, it’s just that it makes a human older and mature while things older and futile.
As I grow older, I am yielding through experience the beauty of life. The truth behind those lies, the happiness behind those sorrows, and the tears behind those smiles. As  the Earth revolves around the sun, I am changing physically, emotionally, socially and mentally. I am learning what’s good from bad in influencing me to change and pushing me to the right route.
As an intellectual girl, I know how to adjust myself from those changes so that I can use it in good way for my improvement and development.
We must not push through to the wrong aspect of changes; we must learn and know the beauty behind these.

Promoting Digital Literacy through English Proficiency

English is truly a world’s language used in international trade, diplomacy and scientific research. Most of the world’s mail computer data are written in English.
We are now in a world of technology. The ability to read and interpret media, to reproduce data and images through digital manipulation and to evaluate and apply new knowledge gained from digital environment is what we call LITERACY. Through DIGITAL LITERACY we can understand more computer tasks; we can communicate well all over the world through the English Language, and understand more the use of it.
Tools are created to help integrate library into the teaching and learning process. One result is the creation of online resources that focus on infusing library and information skills with instructional technology to help individuals obtain digital literacy.
Through English Proficiency, people around the world will easily understand Digital Literacy. Teaching and learning process in ICT will not be hard for teachers and students to understand computer tasks.

CHEMERGY...

“CHEMERGY: Chemistry and Science Clubbing in Synergy”

The Philippine Society of Youth Science Clubs (PSYSC) announces the holding of the 2011 National Science Club Month (NSCM) Celebration for science clubs in all elementary and secondary schools nationwide pursuant to Presidential No. 264, which declares September of every year as the National Science Club Month (NSCM). This year's theme is "CHEMERGY: Chemistry and Science Clubbing in Synergy". The theme means the power of cooperation of chemistry and science in working together to produce a result not obtainable by chemistry alone or by science alone. They need each other in order to produce a certain kind of result. Thus without the other one, the desired result cannot be achieved.

This year's celebration aims to: provide a venue for learning science, technology and environment outside the four (4)walls of the classroom; foster camaraderie and develop leadership skills among the science clubbers; and encourage active participation of students and teachers in the National Science Club Month Celebration and hence, the Science Clubbing Movement.-

Chemistry is sometimes called "the central science" because it connects physics with other natural sciences such as astronomy, geology and biology. Chemistry utilizes physics. Chemistry includes the knowledge (science) to design and make more complex substances from simpler ones. These new substances might then be analyzed for their physical or biological properties.

Though Chemistry for some student is hard to understand it still contributes a lot to a big change and development of our world. Because of Chemistry it was discovered the presence and uses of different acids inside our body for metabolism.

Fine clothing from fruits and animals were made, transportation became easier and faster through oil and gasoline, plants grew healthy for the invention of fertilizers, insecticides and even pesticides, homes and buildings were made strong against destructible calamities and many more.

See how important Chemistry is? Without its contribution to Physics and Biology we may not have known all of this. We may still inside the cage of uncivilized society.

Reason of Success

Every journey has an end. Every dream is to be achieved. Every task must be accomplished. Every prayer needs to be heard.

Education is our key to a better life. Wisdom to decide what is good and right. Knowledge to answer every question that puzzling our minds every seconds of our lives.

They mold us in the best way they can, nurture us with knowledge and values. Drops of blood, tears and sweat of sacrifices just to feed us what we need to know and what we need to do. A simple "thank you" and smile after sharing us what they know is enough to make up their day, 'cause they are our second mother and father in a place where we learn what's good and what's right.

Without them, there are no professionals, no successful man or woman. They are the instruments of God to share and give us knowledge and wisdom.

The fruit of their sacrifices is success and happiness that every  dream of a child is achieved because of them. Teachers are hero, they save us from fork path and lead us to righteous one.

Thank you teachers for the love, knowledge and learning you gave us. You are all true heroes worldwide!

They Know Best

Sacrifices are worth it if each drop of tears, sweat and blood bear a fruit of achievement.

Nights are days to our parents just to give us what we need. Just to feed us with graces of God, moral and spiritual values. Helping us tackle the path to our future and trying to give us the best life we can get and they can give.

Achievements we got are the only things we can give in return for their sacrifices. Every pain they take is worth for our own sake. They are taking good care of us, giving things we need and like, they are doing their very best just to show how much they love us.But still we manage to shout and argue with them because we don't want to hear them scolding us, but we never listened nor accept and appreciate every word coming from their mouth for them to teach us what's the truth and good.

Our parents just want to build a good character within us. They suffer much pain just to give the best. When was the last time we told them that we love them? When was the last time we said thank you to them? When will we tell them those words? When they're already gone?

Love and be thankful to have our parents with us because without them we will live with pain and tears in the future. They just know what's the best for us. Appreciate and love them because they are the heroes we can only have.

To The SONA Of PNoy

The second and last part of the State of the Nation Address of our president Benigno S. Aquino III was delivered at the Session Hall of the House of Representatives, Batasan Pambansa Complex, Quezon City last July 25, 2011.

It was very well delivered due to the fact that he didn't have any paper to look at during his speech and it was in our own language- Filipino.

But behind these flowery words and sentences is the reality that our nation is still in deep calamity, the progress he told us is just like a drop of a change we really need. Why does he avoid the hottest debated issues about RH bill and Hacienda Luisita?

Really progress is what we are dreaming of- justice for those who are innocent inside jails, proper used of paid taxes, respect the rights of every individuals and no to nature's destruction.

Those "utak wang-wang" who should serve than wasting the country's money, when will they stop? When will poverty be ended up?

Jobs for those who are in need, price lowering, leveling up of educations quality, when will these things happen?

Is progress all about the rising of financial state of our country? Increasing number of technological projects that destroy our nature, but some percentages of the fund for it are going to official's pocket?

Those destroyed things for public use but still patiently usable, jailers behind those bars of no justice, native Filipinos in the mountainous part of the country who are neglected by civilization because they don't even experienced medical helps and proper education, for every garbage thrown in the bodies of water that kills thousands of lives, malnutrition, development of big businesses that greatly affect small businesses of Filipino, big dept of our country andf lack of school supplies for us students, can we still say that we are progressing?

If only the officials elected will seve honestly without any malice, our budget was properly spent, if only there are equal rights for all of us, our country is not suffering this kind of down now.

Listen to the weak voices that keep on shouting just to express what they are crying for. Don't be blind and deaf about what are happening to our country. We know that you know what is right, start changes nand look forward to truth and fixed the chaos of the past and talk about it no more.

Decide what is good and go for it, don't think only for yourself but think for the sake of our country.

Breastfeeding TSEK

Nutrition month is an annual event held every July in accordance with Presidential Decree No. 491 known as the Nutrition Act of the Philippines with created National Nutrition Council (NNC). The NNC coordinates the nationwide celebration. Each year the NNC comes up with a theme to call the nations attention and action on a particular issue.

The theme "Isulong ang Breastfeeding, Tama, Sapat, at EKsklusibo," focuses on the key messages to ensure successful breastfeeding practices. The theme supports the DOH's campaign of communication for Behavioral Impact on breastfeeding which is breastfeeding TSEK (Tama. Sapat. at EKsklusibo). It's objective is to encourage all sectors of society to help promote and support correct breastfeeding practices.

Tama- immediate skin to skin contact between mother and baby after birth, and initiation of breastfeeding with in the first hour of life.

Sapat- encouraging and assuring mothers that little breastfeeding is enough for the first week and that frequent breastfeeding ensures continuous breast milk supply to respond to the increasing needs of the baby.

Eksklusibo- giving only breast milk and no other liquid to the baby for the first 6 months.

Breast milk has all the water and nutrients that the first 6 months after which the baby should be given appropriate complementary foods while continuing breastfeeding.

The protection, promotion and support of breastfeeding rank among the most effective interventions to improve child's survival. According to the World's Health Organization, it is estimated that high coverage of optimal breastfeeding practices could avert 13% of the 10.6 million yearly deaths of children 5 years old and below.

Based on Statistics, breastfed children have a better performance in school than those children that was given commercial milks. Breastfeeding can give proper jaw teeth and speech development; it can also protect infants against illnesses.

Isulong ang Breastfeeding! Give each infants a better life for a better future.

Letter to PNoy

Dear Mr. President,

Good day!

I am a student living with a simple life with my family. Even though I'm just an ordinary citizen of our country, I am not blind and deaf about the things that are happening in the whole country. I may only be a student but those happenings greatly affect not only me but the whole country.

Through this message, I want to tell and appeal to you all we ask for.

First, the never ending fights at Muslim Regions, we may not all there but we feel the fear and danger it brings to our fellowmen. We are asking for PEACE and ONENESS. The less fortunate, squatters -poverty- when all the taxes we paid by our parents and other citizens are used properly for our sake and not only for the sake of those people who are blinded by money and think only for their needs. If fairness is in everyone's heart, I think there is less poverty. Good education for us students, more jobs for those who are in need, PEACE, UNITY, FAIRNESS- as a student, these are all I am asking for.

Thank you for reading, and I hope you will listen to the heart of this message. May you continue what you have said and started for the development of our country.
May you have a good health and long-life. Godspeed!

With love,
Rose Anne Alcones

(P.S. I hope many environmental activities will be conducted to protect our motherland. Lessen those factories that  kill bodies of water.)
