Make Differences

Humans are held liable for everything that happens in this world. Calamities that destroy treasures, climate change due to natural and human activities and even marvels in our governance.
December 2011, “Bagyong Sendong” destroyed billions of properties along Visayas and Mindanao. This is only a part of nature’s revenge to human activities like burning fossil fuels- main reason of climate change, kaingin and illegal logging. These cause landslides, mudslides and flashflood because there are few trees to hold and support the soil. Putting down a single tree can kill hundreds of lives and burning fossil fuels poisons the air that we breathe- simple things that slowly killing us.
God showed us the result of our irresponsibleness, may our eyes be opened through these disasters that testing us. Don’t let any disaster to kill thousands of lives again before we do something. It’s better if we start today, but still we must always ready. Youth and adults can do big things for a change.
We can make differences by doing eco-friendly things such as planting trees and biking. Do things that are for everyone’s good not only for self’s happiness and satisfaction. Be wise by doing wise.

Essence of Christmas

“Don’t be afraid; I am here to give you good news, great great joy for all the people. Today a savior has been born to you in David’s town; he is the Messiah and the Lord. Let this be a sign to you: you will find a baby wrapped in swaddling clothes and lying in a manger.”- Luke 2:10-12
Christmas is probably the most awaited season of every Filipinos poor and rich alike. It is a joyous holiday, marked by family gatherings, colorful and bright decorations, traditional songs, and the exchange of gifts.
“Pagmamahalan and Pagbibigayan” is what Christmas really means to us. Nothing is happier than celebrating this season with the one you love. December 16, 2011 is the most unforgettable moment of my high school life. At exactly 4:00 in the afternoon, we had our Christmas program in our fatigue uniform. This is the only time that we can have this program because it is the last time that we are complete before Christmas. We spent two hours dancing, playing and eating. While giving our gifts we hug each one of us while saying Merry Christmas. Tears were rolling down our cheeks because of joy and sadness inside our hearts that there are only less than 4 months for us to spend together.
Two hours is not enough to express our feelings during that time. Love is in the air. This is the last Christmas program that we had during our high school life- the shortest yet the most meaningful. We didn’t have luxurious decorations and dresses but we did enjoy it and spent it with all our hearts as one.
We are soon to graduate, two hours may not be enough to say our goodbyes but this two hours gave a meaning to IV- Maxwell’s heart.

Climate Change

Climates have changed throughout Earth’s history. Those changes have had major impacts on nature and people as well.
Through greenhouse effect, carbon dioxide, methane, and water vapor trap part of the heat generated by incoming sunlight and prevent that heat from radiating back into outer space. This makes Earth warmth for the sake of living things.
Thus, climate is influenced by the amount of certain gases in the atmosphere which are produced due to human and natural activities.
Scientists have gathered evidences indicating that temperatures are gradually rising around the world. Many scientists believe that this trend known as global warming, maybe caused by  the burning of fossil fuels in homes, factories, and automobiles. These fuels release carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases when burned. Over the past 200 years or so, the release of these gases may have been so great that they have enhanced earth’s natural greenhouse effect. These cause shifts in rainfall and vegetation growth that can turn grasslands into desserts. If only we plant trees to change those trees that were put down, those trees will soon grow while capturing carbon dioxide and form it into oxygen for us to breathe.
We can still do something like planting trees to lessen carbon dioxide, using non-fuel vehicles and lessen burning of fossil fuels. Simple yet very useful tools to help save Mother Earth.
Save Mother Earth today, Live better tomorrow.
